A cursiosity

The name Uffizi is often mispelled as Uffizzi or Ufizzi. The reason is also linked to the ethimolgy of the name: "uffizi" means "offices" and the palace was originally built to serve as an office building during the Renaissance period. Over the years the Medici family started using it to display their art collection until it later became one of the first museums in the world.
